It has been a million years since I updated this journal. Suffice it to say that I am alive and kicking. I haven't completed any pieces in a while, but hopefully sometime I shall finish one of my many unfinished projects and be able to post it. Alas, school is wearing me out already. It looks like it is going to be a challenging, but good year.

I consider myself tagged.

Bardling (aka the only person who is going to read this) tagged anyone who wanted to be tagged. Therefor, I shall list 8 random facts about myself.

1) Each person tagged must post 8 random (hopefully interesting)
facts about themselves.
2) Tagged deviants should write a journal of these facts.
3) At the end of the post 8 more deviants are tagged and named.
4) Go to their page and leave a comment telling them that they're tagged.

All righty...lets see.

1) I played with Barbies for a ridiculously long time. Keep in mind that I never played "dress Barbie up." It was more like "Barbie gets lost in the Brazilian rainforest and must survive until the rescue team arrives." I have basically substituted writing/thinking about my characters for this. I just don't act things out anymore; I still invent the stories.

2) Some days, I really want to dance along with my ipod as I am walking down the street. It often takes a great deal of will power not to kick my leg up in the air a la West Side Story. [link]
Yes, I have literally wanted to do that.

3) I wrote my first poem when I was around five. I still have it memorized. Prepare for cute, yet awful poetry:

When the birds fly by
it makes me want to fly
I jump up in the sky
and I can fly.
When it becomes winter I wave goodbye.

Yeah... I didn't say it was my first good poem.

4) The first chapter book I read on my own was The Ghost in the Big Brass Bed
[link]
The copy I read had that exact same cover art. I was in First Grade.

5) I didn't read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone until long after it became popular. I tried, but the first chapter bored me. Once I got through that, though, I was hooked.

6) When Benji, my dog, was a puppy I put him in a stroller that we used for baby dolls. He has since forgiven me.

7) (I'm not sure I am remembering this entirely correctly) Once, when my sister was a baby, Mom was in the kitchen cooking and Katy and I were in there hanging out. Katy started to crawl alarmingly quickly toward the stairs. I grabbed her ankle and yelled for Mom. I was rewarded with a hula-hoop.

8) In Sixth grade I did a painting of the three pyramids of Giza at sunset (partially inspired by lyrics from a Patsy Cline song). It won Best of Show for that category in the art fair. The same year a chalk pastel picture of Benji I did won second place in its category.

Updates coming soon and various other stuff

W00t! My first journal entry! Anyway, I shall soon be putting some more art on here. I just have to get my lazy self down to the library to use the scanner.

In a completely unrelated note. Today is Benji's 11th birthday! My puppy is getting to be an old man! It's so weird because I remember when we first brought him home. I was eight years old. Weird.

Books and movies:

Harry Potter: OMG. Enough said.

The Golden Compass: They are making a movie!

I'm rereading the trilogy of books it is in for the occasion. The only thing that bothers me is that, from what I've heard, they are removing all references to religion. Since organized religion is a central theme in the books I am unsure as to how this is going to work. That said, I am looking forward to rediscovering the series. Last time I read them, lots of metaphors and references went *woosh* over my head. I've read somewhere that the books are a reworking of "Paradise Lost" and that seems to make sense so far.

Inkspell: Finally got my hands on the sequel to "Inkheart." Huzzah!

So, yes, I'm having a great end of the summer and I hope you are too!
